 The Cottage

Slip away from the hustle and bustle of people and traffic to this secret corner of the Lake District. Easily accessible from the A66, six miles from Keswick, yet tucked away quietly down a narrow farm track on the lower slopes of Sale Fell near the northern end of Bassenthwaite Lake. Riggs Cottage is a traditional Lake District cottage dating back to the 17th century offering comfortable self catering accommodation. The cottage is set in its own delightful cottage garden with a stream running through.

This self catering accommodation is an ideal place from which to explore the northern part of the lake district or simply to "chill out". For the more energetic, there are many walking and mountain biking opportunities right from the door. Riggs Cottage is located near the small hamlet of Routenbeck with the bustling market towns of Keswick and Cockermouth only a short drive away. The renowned  Pheasant Inn and Restaurant  is located a short walk (half a mile) from the cottage.

The cottage accommodation consists of two double and two twin bedrooms sleeping up to eight in total, and three bath/shower rooms (two ensuite). There is a large lounge/dining room with beamed ceilings and Inglenook woodburning fireplace, a study/sunroom, fully fitted kitchen and utility room. The cottage has a very effective central heating system and so stays very cosy and warm in the Lake District winter.

For those rainy days in the Lake District, the cottage has an adjacent stone built barn with snooker and table tennis for the sole use of Riggs Cottage guests.

For those wishing to keep in touch with the office or simply browse the Internet there is WiFi throughout the property.
